Erasmus University Rotterdam. Graduated in 2004 (private law). Ben van Nieuwaal wrote his graduation thesis in the field of liability law. In 2010 he graduated cum laude from the postgraduate Grotius specialization course in Administrative Law and in 2023 he successfully completed the postgraduate Grotius specialization course in Environmental Law.

Function and facts
Ben van Nieuwaal advises and litigates on administrative law and public administration, project developments (permits, damages), real estate transactions and general administrative law (Awb, Wob / Woo etc.). He has an extensive background in the areas of corporate law and liability. This is of great service in matters regarding commercial real estate, including the sale and purchase thereof, negotiations and disputes, as well as liability matters arising in connection with real estate and project development.
Over the past few years, he has supervised extensive and complex cases in development and real estate projects. In his day to day practice, he advises all kinds of investors and project developers. Foremost he has an interest in administrative enforcement combined with ambient conditions.

Registration of legal areas
In accordance with Article 35b(1) of the Legal Profession Regulations Ben has registered the following legal areas in the register of legal areas of the Netherlands Bar: administration law and real estate. According to the standards of the Netherlands Bar the registration obliges me to obtain ten training credits per year in each of the registered legal areas.

After years of serving as the legislative framework for the right to government information, the Wob has been replaced as of May 1, 2022 by a new law, which entered into force under the name of the Open Government Act ('Woo').
Widening of the term building site for VAT purposes, with effect from 1 January 2017
New legislation traditionally comes into effect at the start of the year. With effect from 1 January 2017, this is the case in the property world in respect of, among other things, the term ‘building site’ pursuant to the Turnover Tax Act 1968 [Wet op de omzetbelasting 1968].

Without energy, everything comes to a standstill. When speaking of energy, the emphasis is increasingly focused on alternative energy sources, partly stimulated by government measures (subsidies etc.). Often, people speak of ‘green’ energy and a good example is solar energy.
